We are a full service, on-premises wine making facility and wine-making kit supplier, located in Rochester NY. If you’re interested in making your own wine, come on in and we can help! We have hosted families, small groups, wedding parties and corporate team building events.
Or, if you are already an experienced vintner and are simply looking for supplies, we can help with that too. While our primary focus is wine-kits, check in with us, if we don’t have it in stock, we can probably get it for you!

We have always been classified as an “essential” business, which allowed us to continue to move your wines “forward” through the process. We have been bottling for some and others have chosen to wait (semi-patiently).
While we would like to offer to continue bottling for you, at this time guidance allows us to open for LIMITED bottling. We know that some of you are eager to return, but we’ll do it slowly. By appointment only (and for VERY small groups – ideally 2 people). If you’d like us to bottle for you, you can drop off bottles, or check in with us if you need some.
As previously stated, we have also begun sampling/starting (again, in VERY small groups – ideally 2 people) by appointment only. We will be masked and gloved, and would ask that you wear a mask as well (and be in good health). You can email us at [email protected] or call us at (585)235-1090 to schedule an appointment.
We will continue to review the situation and guidance as we move forward through the phased re-openings. We appreciate your patronage, and look forward to when we can return to business as usual at WBD!

Wines By Design – COVID-19 update 2
Once again, we’d like to announce additional changes to how we will do business at Wines By Design.
We had previously announced that we would mandate that the two middle steps (racking and filtering) of the wine currently in process be done (for the immediate future) by WBD staff only.
Due to continued guidance from the CDC, NYS, and Monroe county, we will no longer allow you to bottle your wine (for the immediate future). This is in an effort to promote social distancing. This does NOT mean that you can’t get your wine. We would like to offer to bottle it for you. Due to the extenuating circumstances that is the world today, we feel that this would be the most prudent step forward.
If you wanted to use your own bottles, we would ask that you schedule a time with us to drop them off, we will sanitize and bottle the wine for you and then you can come pick it up. We know that this requires an additional trip for you, but it helps both you and us practice the required social distancing.
If you’d like to purchase bottles from us, we would like to offer a 10% discount off of our new bottle price.
As previously stated, we are also open to allowing you to age your wines with us. It will not hurt the wine.

We have begun by asking our staff to practice social distancing by staying home and being safe.
We have thouroughly cleaned the store and will continue to do so after each visit. This includes, but is not limited to: all surfaces, bottling equipment, labeling equipment, shrink cap equipment, checkout area, etc.
We would also like to mandate that the two middle steps (racking and filtering) of the wine currently in process be done (for the immediate future) by WBD staff only. We know that a number of you like to come in and perform the middle steps, but we promise to be gentle with your wine and take very good care of it.
Finally, in an effort to practice social distancing ourselves, we’d like to ask you to consider that you begin to age your wines with us, for the short term. It will not hurt it and once again, we promise to be very careful.
